Star Princess Nears Final Stages of Construction with Successful Sea Trials and Drydock in Sicily, Set for Fall Delivery to Princess Cruises

The Star Princess has recently docked at Fincantieri’s Palermo shipyard for a drydock following the successful completion of its first set of sea trials. Powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), the Star Princess is slated for delivery to Princess Cruises this fall and is poised to offer guests a new level of luxurious cruising experiences.

Constructed at Fincantieri’s Monfalcone shipyard in Northern Italy, the Star Princess left the shipyard in late May, making its way toward the drydock in Sicily for further finishing touches. During its sea trials, the ship underwent a series of rigorous tests designed to ensure its systems, safety procedures, and overall maneuverability met the highest standards. These trials included onboard system checks, safety drills, and maneuverability tests, ensuring that the vessel operates smoothly and safely when it welcomes its first guests.

Once the drydock work is completed, the ship will return to the Monfalcone shipyard for the final touches, where it will undergo further refinements before its official delivery. At 175,500 tons, the Star Princess is a significant addition to the Princess Cruises fleet, combining cutting-edge technology with luxurious amenities to offer an unparalleled cruising experience. As a sister ship to the newly introduced Sun Princess, the Star Princess carries with it the same sleek design and state-of-the-art features, including more spacious rooms, advanced environmental technologies, and a wide range of entertainment and dining options.

The Star Princess is scheduled to set sail on its maiden voyage in early October, welcoming its first guests for a Mediterranean adventure. Following this, the ship will make its way to the Caribbean for the winter season, marking the beginning of its regular seasonal itineraries. Departing from Fort Lauderdale, the ship will offer a series of seven-night cruises in the Caribbean, with options to explore both the Western and Eastern regions. Passengers will have the opportunity to visit pristine beaches, vibrant cultural cities, and enjoy the warmth of the Caribbean’s tropical climate.

A standout feature of several Star Princess Caribbean itineraries is a stop at Princess Cruises’ exclusive private island, Princess Cays, nestled in the Bahamas. This exclusive stop allows guests to enjoy the serene beauty of the island, complete with sandy beaches and various recreational activities. As the ship sails through the crystal-clear turquoise waters of the Caribbean, it guarantees an unforgettable journey for all who are aboard.

In mid-April 2026, the Star Princess will embark on its first summer season in Alaska, beginning with a 20-night repositioning cruise through the Panama Canal. The ship is scheduled to reach Seattle in early May. From there, it will offer seven-night cruises to the stunning Alaskan wilderness, including ports of call in Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, and Victoria, as well as scenic cruising through the iconic Tracy Arm Fjord. This series of cruises will give guests a chance to witness the majestic beauty of Alaska’s glaciers, rugged coastlines, and breathtaking wildlife.

After completing its first Alaskan season, the Star Princess will head back to the Caribbean for the 2026-27 winter season, providing guests with another chance to experience the beauty of tropical paradise. This versatile ship is designed to provide exceptional cruising experiences, whether it’s traversing the Mediterranean, exploring the Caribbean, or venturing to the Alaskan wilderness.

The Star Princess promises to be a standout addition to Princess Cruises’ fleet, offering state-of-the-art facilities, luxurious accommodations, and a wide range of itineraries to suit every type of traveler. Whether cruising through the serene Mediterranean, enjoying the sun-soaked Caribbean, or exploring the icy landscapes of Alaska, the Star Princess is sure to become a favorite for those seeking adventure, relaxation, and a truly extraordinary cruise experience.
